History
Prophesied to learn much through tragedy, Zeromaeus has lead a difficult life. Starting his 'duty' as a spy for Queen Mab in 1904 AoGS, he pledged himself to Titania in 1932 in order to keep Elara safe. In 2206 he was exiled from the Seelie Court after being falsely accused of rape at 602 years old, exiled into the Equinox from the Unseelie Court 4 months later for his crown sanctioned espionage work and officially disowned (not really). He then spent the next three years homeless and hungry before being taken in by Gova Skrass, a Night Hag loyal to the Prophecy sent by his mother to both help him survive and teach him Hag Magic. He then spent the next 4017 years of his life with very little contact with his own kind or even similar fae species; mostly confined to a remote swamp far from everything he loved. He excursioned some into the mortal realms trying to curry favor with Mab, and on one of those excursions he both fathered a child, Saleryn, with an elven woman, Zarianna, and stole the voice of T'Ryndiel L'Sheriss (who would later become a god) and gifted it to the Winter Queen. This was the last favor he attempted, in that if that was not good enough, nothing would be and he was done playing her game. Mab lost possession of the voice a few months later, which was good as Zarianna was a good friend of T'Ryndiel. By the time Saleryn was born, it was decided by all parties that Zeromaeus would have access to the boy.
Saleryn became a torch in Zeromaeus's darkness, and in time he came to love Zarianna as well. Upon the battle in which T'Ryndiel died centuries later, Zarianna was captured by Unseelie forces and held by House Telanthreth. Zeromaeus did what he could to get her back, but it was never enough. A group of adventurers Saleryn was working with were able to steal her back at the same time as they were able to fetch a vial of healing water to close the wound in his side that had come from an assassination attempt sixteen years earlier, of which would not close on its own. Because of this injury, his drug use became medicinal as well as 'recreational'. His drug usage had always been on the high side even when he was happy and free, miserable and in pain kept him far from sober, but built up a major tolerance over time. He is an addict, but fully functional unless deprived.
